Health, Well Being, and Happiness
Housekeeping
Prior to your arrival, your room was cleaned and prepared for you. It will be cleaned each day of your stay. If, for some reason, you require additional housekeeping attention, such as an accidental spill, please let your nurse know immediately. Our housekeeping department is available to ensure your complete satisfaction with the cleanliness of your room and bathroom.
Labeling & Laundering of Your Clothes
Depending on how often you have family members visit, you will need to launder or bring an adequate supply of clothing for your stay. ALL CLOTHING MUST BE LABELED. If not already labeled, please drop off your garments to Director of Housekeeping and they will gladly see that it is done.
There are two options concerning the laundering of your clothes. We can handle it at our facility or your family member(s) can take care of it. Either way, please notify our Patient Representative, Regina Schwartz, the Director of Housekeeping/Laundry or the Unit Manager.
Maintenance
All furniture and equipment in your room was checked and tested by the Maintenance department prior to your arrival. Maintenance, in conjunction with Therapy, provides you with a wheelchair if needed, and any adjustments needed during your stay.
Beauty Salon/Barber Shop
Our hairdresser visits and services by appointment. Appointment times will be coordinated with your therapy schedule. There is a fee for the Beauty Salon based on the type of service required and the list of these fees are posted below. You can deposit money with the Bookkeeping department so that the beauty service may be provided, or this service can be invoiced to you.
Manicures are provided free of charge by the Recreation department. Please notify Nursing or Recreation if you are interested in these services.
What Personal Items Will I Need?
During your stay with us, you will need
-
Comfortable clothes (including rubber soled shoes such as sneakers) which are appropriate for exercises performed during your rehab sessions.
-
A bathrobe and slippers for bathing purposes
-
Pajamas or nightgowns
We provide soap, shampoo, toothpaste, a hairbrush and toiletries, such as shaving cream and lotion, but you may choose to bring your own personal toiletries from home. If you realize you need an item and forgot to bring it from home, we will do our best to provide or obtain it for you.
Most patients typically have a bath or shower twice a week (dependent on individual medical issues). If you prefer a daily bath or shower, we would be happy to accommodate your wishes. Please discuss this with the Unit Manager.
Smoking Policy
All of our facilities are non-smoking facilities.
Pets
Pets are not allowed in the building or on the grounds of the facility. Validated pet therapy animals are brought in only by our Recreation department. No personal pets are allowed to visit the facility.
Television
All rooms receive cable TV. There is no charge for this service.
Tipping and Gift Giving
Our staff is not permitted to accept gifts of any kind. Letters of appreciation and satisfaction are recommended as a substitute.
Storage of Valuables
As it is expected that you will spend much of your day out of your room in therapy, in and around the common areas of the building, and perhaps out of the building at physician appointments, we discourage you from retaining any large amounts of cash and/or valuables during your stay. Should you wish, you may request a key to the bedside table in your room to secure any personal items you may have.
Lost Items
Lost items should be reported immediately to the nurse on duty and/or your social worker.
Wi-Fi Access
Access to Wi-Fi is available.
Patient Satisfaction Surveys
Help us Help You! While we pride ourselves on our extremely high level of service, we are always looking to improve. We truly do value your opinion and suggestions of how we can make our facility and care better. The information we receive from all surveys is funneled back to the facility and is used to implement necessary changes. This is a valuable tool to us in our quest for excellence and we thank you in advance for your consideration in completing this survey in a timely manner.
Leaves of Absence During Your Stay
Please speak with Social Services or your Nurse Unit Manager if you have any questions related to leaving the facility grounds for any reason other than a physician appointment related to your care.
Visiting Hours
When not participating in therapy, you are encouraged to have visitors. Children are welcome if they are supervised. The hours of visitation are posted, but can be altered if necessary by notifying Administration. We realize that sometimes visitors work later hours that do not fit into the normal visiting hours. We simply ask that you show respect to the other patients on the sub-acute unit and remain as quiet as possible.
Re-Admission to the Hospital
Should you be readmitted to the hospital during your stay, your belongings will be packed and secured for your safety and convenience. We will make every attempt to readmit you, depending on bed availability at that time, when you are ready to be discharged from the hospital. Packed items can only be held for a short time as storage space is limited. Should you decide you would like us to hold your room, a private room fee can be arranged.
Returning Home
It is expected that you will be returning to your former living arrangements upon discharge from the sub-acute unit. If your situation should change during your stay, if you have concerns about your living arrangements, or if you are interested in another living arrangement (such as assisted living or long term care), please alert Social Services as soon as possible so we may assist you.
